A prayer for singles (Hmmm...)
Dear God, great is your faithfulness, great is your goodness towards those who fear you. Indeed you are very great. My testimony giver, my song. The One who shines light in the darkness, the one who grants me favour and makes me dine in the presence of the enemy. My Shepherd and my King. My God, I bless your name. Daddy, thank you for today. Thank you that the sun shines, the clouds bring forth rain. Thank you that the earth revolves around its axis, thank you that it still rotates around the sun. Thank you for the wisdom that you have placed in the minds of men, when I sit on a plane, I marvel. Lord, na u o. Thank you that I am still here. Father, you are worthy of praise.
Lord, thank you for the gift of being single. I know that sometimes I don't see it as a gift (U know how it is now..). Lord, teach me how to be grateful for the phase of life that I am in whilst preparing myself for where I am going. Teach me to enjoy where I'm at enroute to the next destination. Your word tells me that my maker is my Husband and truly you have been true to your word. You have stuck with me through thick and thin, loving me with an everlasting love. Thank you Jesus.
Father always remind me about what your word says about single people that we should be totally committed to working in your house for our desire should be unto you. Open my eyes to areas where I can serve; like David it is better for me to be a doorkeeper in your house than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Help me to always remember that being single does not equal being a second class citizen and that it doesn't matter what people's opinions are, you have spoken concerning my Boaz and because you have said it, I believe it and that settles it.
Thank you for giving me a renewed mind concerning the institution of marriage, thank you for the godly examples you have brought into my life, models of what it should be. Thank you for I know in this season you are shaping me into a virtuos woman, a good thing to the one who finds me. Teach me how to be a wife of noble character, one whose worth is far above rubies. May my husband have full confidence in me, I want to bring him good and not harm all the days of my life.
Father, you know it is my desire to be married, I won't even lie and say it isn't but my all consuming desire is to live a life of purpose, live the life you created me to live, doing all you created me to do. So while I wait, I wait in joy, I wait in peace, I wait in anticipation of what you are going to do, for the gift you will bless me (or have blessed me???) with. Daddy, give me the grace to encourage other single gals that we can be single and satisfied, we can be single and sassified because the totality of our beings is not our marital status. Father, I pray for Boaz, keep him safe and keep him for me. Lord give him the grace to keep me holy. Lord. I will wait for Mr Right, not Mr Right now, Mr Available or Mr patch-patch (lol!). Open my eyes to see and my ears to hear, help me not to be carried away with emotions.
Give us all the grace to be patient, to know that your time is truly the best, you said it doesn't matter so much when it happens as to who it happens with...well Lord, help me to remain pure. Thank you Jesus. I know you are working and all things will work together for my good. I give you glory, I give you praise. Living for you O Lord, that is my desire.

Boaz is coming!
And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz. And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me go now to the field and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go my daughter. And she went and came and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light (as it turned out) on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz who was of the kindred of Elimelech. And, behold, Boaz CAME...Ruth 2:1-4a (KJV) Brackets (NIV)..Capitals mine
This one is for the single sisters'. Do I hear a halleluyah? For the sassy, single and satisfised sisters' who are still trusting God for a mate. During worship this morning, I felt I heard the Lord say "Believer, be encouraged and encourage your sisters that Boaz is coming". I began to laugh until I saw verse 3 of the 2nd chapter of Ruth in the King James Version...that Boaz came.
I recalled a recent conversation I had with a friend of mine and she said that God will not give you a man that you have to manage because every good and perfect gift comes from above. Not that the man will be perfect but he will be a good gift. An analogy that comes to mind is when you are desperately searching for an item at the supermarket right before closing, you get to the shelf and realise that there's only one left. It looks a little damaged but the shop staff are giving you the evil eye and you really, really want it so you say "Well, I can just manage this, if I chop off a bit here or there I guess it can really work".
This might be an ok mentality for grocery or even clothes shopping but I don't think it is God's plan for us concerning a future partner. I asked God, "why did you say Boaz is coming? Why not another name in the Bible?" He said "Go back and read that book again, the characteristics of the man for you are found in Boaz"
A son in the house (from the clan of Elimelech)Ruth 2:1
A strong man Ruth 2:9
A generous man Ruth 2:14
An understanding man Ruth 2:15
A man of integrity Ruth 3:18
A self-less man Ruth 4:10
So if you are waiting on the Lord, wait like Ruth. Don't allow depression to set in. Wait like Ruth. Don't sit at home and reminisce on how the good 'ole days were in Moab and don't even consider going back to the world. Go into the fields and glean. To glean was not a choice occupation, basically you were gathering left overs. I'm sure when people passed and saw those that gleaned they shook their heads in pity. I'm sure some may have said a few unkind comments. Just the way they do today. "Haba, don't you want to get married, you're not getting any younger o!" or "You're too choosy, all men are the same, just marry one and be done with it"! My encouragement to all this pertains to is to rejoice because Boaz is coming! My question to you is... Where will he find you? At home, depressed, unfulfilled and angry at God, or gleaning in the field. To glean in the field is to stay in your assignment, to stay in that purpose that the Lord has for you, to serve Him with all that you have.
Do me a favour this week, praise God, worship Him, praise Him just as if the answer to your prayers was right in front of you.
Rejoice and again I say rejoice because BOAZ IS COMING!
