8 Wierd Things

Share
Quick update: I'm sorry it seems I have become a 'part-time' blogger, it's really been so busy but I trust y'all are doing ok.

I was tagged by Rinsola a while ago. I'm not sure I know 8 things about myself talk less of 8 'wierd' things but let's see what I can come up with..

Before i start here are the rules:
1) Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog
2) Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself
3) Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs
4) Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
Those that have been tagged will know at the end, so keep reading :)

a)I love memorising numbers, I can recite my card numbers, start and expiry date, security number e.t.c. To do this I always look for relationships between the numbers for example when you give me your phone number I look at the digits to see how they relate i.e one of my friends taking the second set of three digits from the first set of three digits gives you the seventh digit in his phone number. It's funny, I just keep looking at the numbers until I find something

b)This may be linked to the first, but for some crazy reason I love to count steps. The number of steps to the second floor where I work is 51, to the platform for my train is 63 and to get upstairs at home 11! Don't ask me what I use this information for.

c)When I was young, I was scared of beards! Don't ask me why, for some strange reason I always thought that a random bearded stranger would hide me in his beard and I would never see my family again, u can just imagine what used to happen in the Christmas grotto with Father Christmas..I would scream my head off!!

d)I don't like flowers, please give me something else. I don't like gardening either. With me and flowers, I know they're pretty and all but they are DYING and I can't be bothered to look for a vase to put them in when I know they will end up in the trash in a few days!!

e)I think I've said this before..but I am obsessed with the colour brown! Every single day of my life I wear something or hold something that has brown in it. Although today, there is no brown in my dress, there is brown in my hair!

f)I do not like cheese but I love pizza..how is this possible?

g)Back to numbers, believe me I do not like math! I dislike odd numbers, i think it comes from the fact that you cannot divide by 2 to get a whole number but I would always prefer to deal with even numbers. In my head, even numbers are good, while odd numbers are bad!

That's it for me, as far as I am aware, most of blogville has been tagged to do this but if you haven't, pretty please CONSIDER YOURSELF TAGGED and get to stepping.

Compliments of the season in advance to everyone. Remember the reason for the season and remember to give thanks. To all travelling, I pray for a safe trip and for SANITY for those going through Heathrow!

Remain blessed and highly favoured

Dear Daddy

You are
higher than the highest
greater than the greatest
stronger than the strongest
wiser than the wisest

You are
my story changer
my song in the night
my secret keeper
my ray of sunshine on dark days

You are
the One who heals me
the One who raises me up
the One who wipes away my tears
the One who directs my paths

You are
the Rose of Sharon
the Lily of of the valley
the Lion of the tribe of Judah
the Lamb of atonement

You are
a great Provider
a great Protector
a great King
a great GOD

Lord, you are more than worthy to receive all the glory and praise. Thank you for being in my life. Thank you for being a Holy God but loving an unholy me. Thank you for loving me with a perfect love even though I am not perfect. Thank you that you were able to turn your back on your most precious son so you could face me and hold me tight in your embrace. I came to make a request but I see that indeed You have been faithful.

Thank you for holding me in the storm. Thank you for adopting me into your family. Thank you for your Word because I do not have to accept what my eyes show me as the finality of the situation, I can turn to your word and take what it says because it can never return to you void, because it is QUICK and it is POWERFUL.

Thank you for having my back. Thank you for your unfailing love. Thank you for chastisment for it shows that I am regarded as a son. My prayer is that at every moment, praise and worship will always be on my lips. I will allow the things I go through to draw me closer to you because through the events of life, I see your power at work.

I love you Lord.

To everyone who reads this, my prayer for you is that you are always aware of the UNFAILING LOVE that the Lord has for you and you draw closer to Him every day. You are BLESSED and HIGHLY favoured. No matter what you go through, YOU have been EQUIPPED to face that challenge and you will come through VICTORIOUS because you are a WINNER. When you were created, He breathed His Spirit into you and that will keep you going. Everything you go THROUGH is preparation for where you are going TO, so hang in there. Your situation is temporary but your VICTORY will be permanent.

Keep PRAYING and PRAISING.

Dear MC & MamaG

you have shown me
what marriage is all about
two imperfect people
bound together by a COMMITMENT
to stick together
through thick and thin
rain or shine
ups and downs
joy or pain

you have taught me
the true meaning of forgiveness
how a friend loves
at ALL times
even when it hurts
or is not returned
or appreciated
a love that endures
ALL things

so I thank you
wonderful mum and dad
for keeping our family together
through the stormy days
and I pray
that your love grows stronger
with every single minute
of every single day
and that I also
experience a love like yours

I love you both.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

30 Days of Thankfulness; Day 15

Share
Hi all

So I got tagged by my beautiful darling sis Life of a Stranger. So here's why I am truly thankful.

I am thankful to You
for LOVING me
with an everlasting love
that does not depend
on my performance
or even loving You back
a love that reaches out
to draw me close to you
a love that takes me
to a deeper place in you

I am thankful to You
for saying NO
to some things
and even some people
for saying no to the good
so that I can attain the best
for saying NO to my will
and teaching me to trust you
because you know that my latter end
shall surely be great

I am thankful to You
for setting me FREE
from other people's expectations
and approval
from low self esteem and worth
for setting me FREE
to laugh out loud
to be happy, to love and live
free indeed
to be me

I am thankful to You
for HEALING me
physically and emotionally
from the pain and rejection of the past
Thank you
for picking up the broken pieces
of my heart
replacing ashes with beauty
mourning with dancing
sorrow with joy

I am thankful to You
for FAMILY
It's been a bit crazy
these few years
but you have bound us together
with love
and pulled us together
when situations tried
to pull us apart
We are coming through the fire
rejoicing

Thank you Daddy for being with me in the past, here in my Present and I know you are there beckoning me into my future. I am so grateful..words are too poor to express how I feel inside. I am in awe of your goodness in my life over these years. All that the enemy meant for evil, You turned around for good. I praise and glorify your name. Thank you for loving me. Thank you Lord. I have to stop typing now but I know you hear the praise going on in my heart.

Thank you Diamond for inspiring us to go deeper and count our blessings and consider the goodness of the Lord to us in the land of the living. I am indeed thankful for my blog family. i tried to warn you
perhaps too strongly
that the path you wanted to travel
would bring you pain
but i couldn't stop you
as the decision was yours to make
and i sensed that you felt
my rejection of your plan
equated to a rejection of you
now the deed has been done
the die has been cast
and you have been hurt
and the storms are raging
so we hold on to each other
as we cry
and forgive
and learn
what unconditional love means
as we pray
that the one who calms the storm
takes us through this
and in time
heals our hurts
and brings
restoration

Trust me

Share
u came to see me the other day
as you always do
i asked how you were doing
and you said fine
but there was pain in your eyes
and I couldn't help but notice
as you turned to leave
that you carried a bag so heavy
it slowed your step

why won't you trust me?
when I say that I love you
that I am always here
that I will never leave
that I have got your back
that I will keep my word
that I will always protect and fight for you
that this too shall pass
that the end of a matter is always greater than the beginning

so please come back
talk to me
give me your baggage
i can handle it
talk to me
it's ok to cry
i am listening
but know this
that I am working
and you will come through this
winning, victorious, shining and triumphant

TRUST in Him at all times, O people, POUR out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge Psalm 63:9 (NIV) capitals mine

Doing my bit

Share
some days I feel so small and insignificant
how can little ole me change the world?
i've now come to realise
that though I may not be able to change the world
by His grace
i can love you today
it could be
a smile
a hello
or a how are u doing
it could be
a word of encouragement
or a prayer whispered heavenwards
and then maybe, just maybe
i can bring
a smile to your face
and a dance to your walk
remind you that you are more than a conqueror
and you can perhaps..
pass it on

I found this in an old diary this morning when clearing out some stuff. We should never underestimate the power of 1. It took one Rosa Parks, one Martin Luther and one Nelson Mandela..sure there is power in unity, a three fold cord is not easily broken but we should also remember that in our day to day comings and going we can also be a blessing no matter how small and insignificant we may think our contributions are.

I'll leave u with a small story. A preacher called for a meeting and after preaching his heart out only 2 people gave their lives to Christ..he felt like a failure but little did he realise that day began a transformation in the life of a young man called Billy Graham who went on to be one of the greatest evangelists of all time.

I say again, never underestimate the power of 1.

Happy Birthday to....?

Share
Welcome all,

Welcome to a blogville first..it's a DOUBLE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!!!! for Nyemoni and Believer.

Allright, first a very happy birthday to my girl...the one and only NYEMONI!!. Today (22nd September) is her birthday (and mine..yay!) and although she will not be online, please make her feel extra special on Monday when she logs in. Anyways, i trust y'all.

Happy Birthday, my darling sis..you are adorable, beautiful, creative, delightful, fun.....inspiring, joyful, kind, lovely.....sweet, talented, understanding....and xtraordinary. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday mate.

As you add another year to your life may the Good Lord continue to enable you to increase in strength, wisdom, knowledge, favour as you grow in Him. May you always be aware of His Presence in your life as your guide through life's journey. As a leading lady of the Lord, may He grant you all you need to excel as a wife, mom, sister, daughter..on the job and in all the roles He has set out for you as you walk towards destiny. I thank God for the many more birthdays to come as He keeps you, guides you and causes His face to shine upon you. It is your day..so celebrate!!!
I'm really grateful to God for another year, that I'm still here and though sometimes things have been rough and I've made a couple of bad turns, He's still with me like He promised He would. I thank God that I'm in a different place from where I was this time last year and that His joy will continue to be my strength. I am grateful Lord for family and friends; those who have stuck with me on this journey, even when I haven't always been lovable. I'm thankful that every morning I open my eyes and I have somewhere to be and something to do. I'm thankful that even in the difficult places the Lord has held my hand and sometimes given me a piggy back ride. I'm thankful for stumbling onto a blog and entering into this seemingly new world where I have met some terrific people who encourage, inspire and motivate me, reminding me to stay strong and always stir up the gift on the inside of me. Lord, I thank you and I know that as your word has promised that as the length of my days, so shall my strength be. I have what it takes to be an OVERCOMER and I face the future knowing that as long as I allow you to lead me, I can never go wrong. I love you Lord.

Ok, so this first cake belongs to you (ignore the name on it!!!LOL!) and all the other Man U fans out there..have a slice please. For all the others, you are not left out..help yourself to some cake.

Allright, menu, menu..help yourself to some pounded yam/egusi or jollof rice and grab a glass of juice!!! Bon apetit! Remain blessed and highly favoured. HIP, HIP, hurray!

Life A-Z; G is for growth

Share
growth (noun): the act or process, or a manner of growing; development; gradual increase. (Dictionary.com)

And the child GREW and became STRONG in SPIRIT....(Luke 1:80a)

And the child GREW and became STRONG; He was filled with WISDOM, and the GRACE of God was upon Him (Luke 2:40)

And Jesus GREW in WISDOM and STATURE, and in FAVOUR with God and men (Luke 2:52

And the boy Samuel continued to GROW in STATURE and in FAVOUR with the Lord and men (1st Samuel 2:26)

All Scriptures from the New International Version (NIV), capitals mine.

Hmm, G was a difficult one to get. At first, I couldn't think of anything that started with G then thanks to all the suggestions from my fellow bloggers, I had too many too choose from but when the word growth dropped in my spirit, I just asked the Lord to reveal to me what He wanted to teach me.

Growth...........as I celebrate another birthday in a few weeks, I am undergoing a process of self-evaluation. I'm asking myself questions like; Where am I now? Where am I going? How have I changed? from last year, 5 years back? What is God saying? I think the basic question is; Am I growing? I know I'm adding another year to my life but am I growing spiritually, mentally and emotionally? I think I've passed the stage for physically because any increase now will be horizontal and not vertical!!!

The verses above allude to John the Baptist, Jesus and Samuel. Not only did they grow physically (in stature), the Bible also records that they grew in the intangible (Spirit, wisdom and favour). I love the definition of growth as a process of gradual increase and development. We give birth to babies and they grow through different stages of life until they become fully grown adults.

So am I growing? I think yes, in some areas but I know there is still a lot of work in this heart of mine for the Holy Spirit to work on. Am I growing in wisdom? I shouldn't be making the same poor decisions I was making last year, 10 years ago. Am I growing in the fruits of the Spirit? Am I more loving, more kind, more peaceful, more gentle, more self-controlled, more faithful, more patient and more gentle (Gal 5:22)? I think the reason why these characteristics are fruits of the Spirit and not gifts are because we are expected to grow in them. A fruit does not appear overnight but manifests when a tree has been cultivated in the right environment for fruit development. The same with us, as our spirits are cultivated in the right environment by living and being led by the Spirit of God we also will manifest ALL the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

As I was meditating on this topic, the Holy Spirit revealed something to me. For proper growth of any living thing, adequate nourishment is required. Food is to our physical body what the Word of God and communion with the Holy Spirit is to our spirit. Remember that who we really are is spirit but encased in our natural bodies or flesh. When we become born again, our spirits receive life from God. It is with our Spirits we interact with the GodHead but the thing is that we tend to forget that our spirits also require nourishment. We feed our natural bodies, exercise and take care of it, giving it what it requires for growth but our spirits are not nourished so does not grow.

This is why sometimes we struggle with temptation because our flesh is stronger because it has been fed better. The word tells us that John, Jesus and Samuel grew both physically and spiritually so we need both to be effective in the ministries we have been anointed for. This is why although physically Samuel was at a young age, his spirit was mature enough to handle hearing things from God even when there were people older than Him (Eli and his sons) present (1st Samuel 3).

When we choose to grow spiritually, God can reveal more to us and anoint us to do even greater things for Him. We need to desire it. It's no longer enough to have known the Lord for x number of years but have we grown? Can we truly say we know more about Him now than we knew then? Paul addresses the church in Corinth..Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly-mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk and not solid food, for you were not ready for it (1st Corinthians 3:1-2a). Physically, it would be strange to see an adult existing on a diet of milk only. So also, we should desire the solid food of God. This is someone described by Paul in 2nd Timothy 2:15 as ...a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Also, the stronger our spirits are, the better it is able to renew (reprogramme) our minds (our thinking patterns, process) to no longer be conformed to this world but to be TRANSFORMED to the way God wants us to think (Romans 12:2).

My primary goal now is to grow spiritually. I know there is so much God has in store for us if we are willing for Him to use us. I think I'm getting a bit tired of this milk and need some spiritual 'chicken wings'.

Remain blessed and highly favoured

I am anointed!

Share
To anoint is defined in different ways by different people but the definition that resonates most with my spirit is 'to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to carry out a certain task'. For a while now, I'd been afraid as I allowed the enormity of the different challenges I was (and in some ways still am) facing to overwhelm me. Like Peter, I had been looking at the waves instead of keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus 'the author and finisher of my faith'. I thank God for His grace over my life. His Word is so true when He says that He will never give us anything beyond what we can bear. The Word that set me free was simply "You have been anointed for your assignment".

To receive the anointing is far more than dipping your hand in oil and smearing your forehead or 'shaking' or 'falling' under the Spirit. I have no issues with these acts but sometimes we believers get carried away with rituals and lose sight of the power behind the actions. I have been anointed for my assignment. This tells me that God has empowered me for a specific purpose, for a specific calling and I am not, in short I cannot do what God has called me to do of my own wisdom, strength or ability but with God working through me.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me because the Lord has ANOINTED me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted , to proclaim freedom for the captives...Isaiah 61:1-3, Luke 4:18-19 (Capitals mine)

But you will receive POWER when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses..Acts 1:8 (Capitals mine).

Even Jesus had to be anointed before He began His earthly ministry. Of ourselves we can do nothing. In the Old Testament, a king had to be anointed with oil as a symbol of God's approval and acceptance of Him. After Saul was anointed, he was able to prophesy. After David was anointed, He was able to slay Goliath.

the 11 disciples were anointed to change the world with the Gospel
Paul was anointed to witness to the Gentiles
Daniel was anointed to interpret dreams and visions and occupy a place of authority in an ungodly kingdom
Martin Luther King was anointed to give black people a voice and bring an end to segregation
Bishop T.D Jakes is anointed to reveal deep mysteries of the word of God
Paul and Jan Crouch, Marcus and Joni Lamb are anointed to take the Word to the world, building churches without walls via television

The question then is, what have we been anointed for? I have been asking the Lord to reveal more about my assignment on this earth to me but I am beginning to see that I have been anointed to teach, to love, to give and encourage. Your assignment will not necessarily put you on CNN or the BBC because we all have a role to play and we can never really be fully fulfilled until we walk in the purpose God has designed for us. Some of us have been anointed to be in the jobs we are at, so that we can be the salt and light in our companies. Some of us have been anointed to remain on our knees in prayer for family members who don't know the Lord or interceding for the sick. Others are anointed to walk in certain dimensions of wealth not for themselves but to be used for God's work.

To be anointed is different from being gifted. The anointing takes your gift to a different level. Some people can sing but when an anointed person sings, even the sick can get healed. Some people can write, but an anointed person writes words that can pierce even the most hardened heart. The anointing took stuttering Moses and gave him the boldness to speak to Pharoah, King of Egypt.

The thing to remember is that the anointing has a price. Joeseph was anointed to be in the palace but He had to go through the pit, slavery and prison before he got there (Psalm 105:9). Immediately after Jesus baptism and the Holy Spirit descending upon Him (Matt 3:16-17), we are told that..Jesus was led by the SPIRIT into the desert to be tempted by the devil (Matt4:1) so know that challenges, trials, temptations will come but remember that you have been empowered from on High. I'm learning to look challenges in the face and boldly declare that I have been anointed for such a time as this, to be in this place and at this time so I know that God is able to do through me exceedingly and abundantly, above all I can ask or think, according to the POWER at work in me (Eph 3:20). Also, the anointing is able to break every yoke (Isaiah 10:27b).

How do we get the anointing? We ask, seek and knock (Matt 7:7&8). Elisha asked for a double portion of the anointing on Elijah's life (2nd Kings 2:9) and he received it because He was willing to pay the price and also because he asked with the right motives, remember that He sees our hearts.

So I'm encouraging you today, remember that greater is He in you (1st John 4:4) than anything you may face, with Him all things are possible so ask Him to anoint you and empower you to do what He has called you to do and be who He has called you to be.

It is well, I am praying for you and cheering for you!

You are blessed and highly favoured

Life A-Z; H is for Happiness

Share
Yes I know G comes before H, I'm still pondering on G so bear with me.

Happiness
The lie is
I will be happy tomorrow
..when the bills are paid
..when I get that great job
..when I am married
..when I move into my dream home
..when the kids grow up
..when I have a car
..when my miracle shows up

But the truth is
I can be happy today
even though some bills are due
even though the job is not always great
even though I'm still single (and now satisfied)
even though the dream home is still in my dreams
even though the kids aren't here
even though I'm still walking!
even though I'm still waiting on the Lord

I am learning
to enjoy where I am
on the way to where I need to be
I am learning
Not to delay happiness
And tag it to certain events
I am learning
to wake up each day
and find at least one thing
to be happy about

So today, I am happy and very grateful for my blog family. For your friendship, for your comments and for your encouragement. I thank God for you and I ask that He continue to keep you, guide you and grant you the desires of your heart as you continue to trust in Him.

Keep smiling

Life A-Z: F is for Finances

Share
Started this a while back, picking up from where I left off. Let's see how it goes..

So let's discuss the F word. Well, not really discuss because I will be the first to let you know that this is not my area of expertise so sorry I can't tell you what stocks or bonds to buy or what real estate is hot at the moment. What I can do is share from the Word of God, scripture that has been impressed upon my heart regarding finances.

But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today Deuteronomy 8:18

As children of God, everything we do is linked with the relationship we have with the Father. I know money tends to be a volatile subject, most especially in the church BUT I believe that it is His desire that we produce wealth, not just so that we can wear Prada or Gucci or Manolo's (there's nothing wrong with that) but there is so much work to be done in the world, schools, hospitals, orphanages need to be built. Sometimes, we need to look beyond our needs to reach out to a hurting world. This verse confirms to me that God can give me wisdom concerning what investment vehicles I can board on the road to wealth creation.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, some people eager for money have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs 1st Timothy 6:10

One of the most misunderstood verses in Scripture, I think. Don't love money, love God. We know which one we love when we are asked to give money away. I don't really want to talk about giving in the church because I know people have different views on the matter, what I know is that God is the source of all wealth and I will obey and trust Him with my finances. My view on giving is that God's work needs money and who else will give but His children.

He who loves pleasure will become poor, whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich Proverbs 21:17

Wine comes from grapes, oil comes from olives. Who is wealthy, the producer or the consumer? We can't all be farmers but this passage reminds me that to improve my finances, I need to own assets, defined by Robert Kiyosaki as something that puts money in my pocket at the end of the day. I don't think this verse is saying that we shouldn't enjoy the good things of life but we should strive to be producers because the vineyard owner in this case will be the one smiling to the bank!

....making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater Isaiah 55:10b

In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has Proverbs 21:20

So which am I, a sower or an eater because what I am determines what I get. When money comes to me, do I think of the present or my future. A wise man said, the present is expensive but the future is cheap. How many of us know of cases where people were selling land for what seemed like outrageous prices at the time but fast forward 5-10 years and for what those places are selling for now you wish you had bought acres! Those who see their money as seed, see it as a tool for even more wealth creation but if we live for the present then we are eaters but remember the word says that it is the foolish that devours all that he has.

A sluggard does not plow in season, so at harvest time he looks and finds nothing Proverbs 20:4

Go to the ant you sluggard....yet it stores its provisions in the summer and gathers its food at harvest Proverbs 6:6-8

Life is all about seasons, our earning years are for a season, our youth is for a season. We will never at the age where we are now forever and I know by the grace of God we will get better with time but one day retirement will come, the question is will we be ready? Depending on what part of the world you live in, there will be different pension plans but I know I can't rely on any government or company in my retirement so I must now in my plowing season, like the ant store my provisions for the summer by making my money work for me because when harvest comes and I can no longer run around like I can now, I don't want to look around and find nothing.

The plans of the diligent lead to profit, as surely as haste leads to poverty Proverbs 21:5

Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war obtain guidance Proverbs 20:18

These verses remind me to desist from get rich quick schemes, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! Finances are too much an important part of our lives to be left to chance. There must be a plan for wealth creation and we must seek advice from professionals but most importantly, people who have done what we want to do. Do you want to buy property? talk to people who own property, their mistakes will help you learn. In the war against poverty, we need all the help we can get.

There were some other verses but I feel the post is long enough already. Please feel free to share Scripture or comments about this topic with me. Like I said, there are many books out there on finances, wealth creation e.t.c. I am learning but even if you don't need the money, I know a lot of kids who need sponsoring so you can write them a cheque!

Kingdom Perspective

Share
Hmm, what do I write? He said "Sit at the computer and I will tell you what you will say", so here goes....

I've been away..dying, don't get scared it's not a physical thing but I sense God is trying to teach me deeper truths about Him and my relationship with Him. When I go through stuff, I don't talk or write about it because it doesn't seem to correlate with my idea of what it means to live the "victorious Christian life" but He has shown me, that is so wrong.

Some days I doubt
Some days I cry
Some days I am impatient
Some days I am unkind
Some days I am self-centered
Some days all I see is the cloud
But everyday I know that He is with me
Loving and forgiving me
In spite of me

I'll just say it as He did. It's not that as a believer you won't experience tests and trials, remember what the preacher said..sometimes you go "up the down staircase", you do and you will as you continue to live in an imperfect world where your faith and love life must be perfected. But you must look at the whole picture, that is why I asked you to "set your heart on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1b). The way you see the problem is the problem.

Also remember,

Thomas doubted
Jeremiah cried
Abraham didn't wait
Moses killed..literally
Jacob was self-centred
Elijah ran away
But everyday I was with them
Loving and forgiving them
In spite of them

When you look at an issue from a Kingdom perspective, you can walk in a peace that passes all understanding. Take the 4 Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace, people saw them in flames but they saw themselves in the presence of their true Love. The Kingdom is different from the world because;

In dying, we live
In giving, we receive
In tests, we triumph
In loss, we gain
In tribulations, we persevere
In tears, we smile
In betrayal, we love
In weakness, true strength is found

So my dear, the 'victorious Christian' is not one who has no weakness or trouble but the one who OVERCOMES and you don't overcome through your own strength but with Me working through you.

We are hard pressed on every side but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed. We always carry in our body the death of Jesus, so that the LIFE of Jesus may also be revealed in our body......therefore we do not lose heart, though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we FIX OUR EYES not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is TEMPORARY, but what is unseen is ETERNAL. 2nd Corinthians 4:8-10; 16-18.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, "My GRACE is SUFFICIENT for you, for my POWER is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my WEAKNESSES, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why for CHRIST'S SAKE, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecution, in difficulties. For when I am WEAK, then I am STRONG. 2nd Corinthians 12:8-10 Capitals mine

Remain blessed and highly favoured, you are always in my prayers. Please keep me in yours. I've learnt that life is really about relationships, both vertical and horizontal. We were never meant to do it alone.

Keep smiling, even though there may be tears.

Do you remember the first time?

Share
she remembers the first time
As the crowd looked on
With hate in their eyes, their hearts full of self-righteous indignation
His head was bent as he wrote in the sand
and when He looked up, she saw love in His eyes
feeling unworthy she looked down
and saw he had written 'forgiven'

he remembers the first time
the toil the night before with no results
there was something about the way He spoke
the authority in His words, the passion in His heart
the greatest miracle that day didn't have anything to do with fish
for when He changed his name
he knew he would never be the same

she remembers the first time
there had been so many people
pushing and shoving
trying to get close to Him
but not understanding His power
though frightened, she surged forward to touch Him
and she experienced His healing

i remember the first time
His first words
I imagined the look in His eyes
as He said to me
"Come just as you are,
You don't have to be afraid anymore
I love you with an everlasting love"

What about you? Do you remember your first time? It's easy to get caught up with the hustle and bustle of life and forget it's not about religion but relationship. You can't help knowing the Lord without loving Him. He's just that type of person. Encounters with Him don't always come with peals of thunder and bouts of lightening but we can always make them memorable. Leave the place of prayer today with something special in your heart and keep it with you as you go through the day.

Don't forget to keep smiling

Peace is more than calm
it is a rest of mind
in the midst of the storm
Joy is more than laughter
it is dancing
for my miracle even when it hasn't shown up yet
Love is more than a feeling
it is the knowing
that we are in this together through thick and thin
Faith is more than just belief
it is standing
even when circumstances want to knock me down
Praise is more than singing
it is rejoicing
in any which way because of who God is to me
Prayer is more than speaking
it is superimposing
the will of God over the will of man
Life is more than the acquisition of stuff
it is about what we have done
whom we have served and why we will be missed when we leave
Hi everyone,
Hope you are having a swell weekend! Just wanted to put down some lines although for some strange reason, I can't get the formatting right so that 3 lines form a paragraph. Anyways, in keeping with 7/7/07 I decided to have only 7 verses, however I just noticed that the number 7 occurs 3 times in the date as well so 7 verses x 3 lines! Today is the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year. 7=Perfection and 3=completion so I'm believing and trusting God with you that there will be a perfect completion to the issues and situations that you may be facing.
Don't worry about how big it is, God is bigger and we will surely have cause to look back and smile and celebrate because we serve a miracle working God. Not only will we finish what we have started with Him but we shall finish well.

Love is........

Share
She asked the question...Is love enough?

Love is the twinkle in your eyes when I show up, the smile on your face when you hear my name

Love is in your words when I am discouraged and you gently remind me of who I really am, that I'm made of tougher stuff

Love is when you hear past beyond the words to how I feel and even understanding what the silence means

Love is when I place my head on your chest and I can feel your heart beats just for me

Love is when I'm tired of the journey and you place my hand in yours and when I'm really weary, you give me a piggy back ride

Love is when I make mistakes, you open your arms to receive me when I come back home

Love is when I go to bed at night and you are there, i wake up and i can feel the breath of your presence

Love is in your giving. Your willingness to lose everything and to take the pain, shame and humiliation that was mine so that we could be together forever

Everyday, I see the expression of your love. You let me know it's not a feeling, it's a doing. I'm really sorry because some days I take your love for granted but I know it cost you everything. I'm glad you chose me, there's so much to say but know this I love you, greater than anything and more than everything. Thank you for loving me in spite of and not only because of.

I love you and yes I think love is enough.

For God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son that whoever should believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16, capitals mine)

But God DEMONSTRATES His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)

E je ka gbadura!

Share
I hope the title of this post means Let us pray. If I have damaged the Yoruba language, please it is not intentional, i am trying to learn. I've been meaning to write this all week.

Dear Lord

I thank you and I praise you because You have been so good to me. You have been faithful concerning your word which can never return to you void without accomplishing it purpose in my life. Thank you because I'm here and I'm still standing. Thank you because as each day goes by, You reveal more of Yourself to me through your Word and the Holy Spirit.

Father I'm asking not just for myself but for others as well that we are aware of your presence at all times because You have promised never to leave or forsake us. That when troubles arise, we remember that You are there and You are working and your silence should never be taken as absence. We pray for more of You, that You reveal more of yourself in a new way.

Father help us to be aware that we can let go of yesterday's disappointments, yesterday's betrayal and yesterday's hurt and step into today, a new day of hope, joy and peace. Remember what your word says about a new day springing forth.

Father, help us to remember that even when we go wrong, like the Father of the prodigal son your arms are open to welcome us back home when we admit our mistakes and choose to walk in your forgiveness.

Father, help us to love, truly love even when it is difficult. Give us the wisdom to make the right decisions in our lives and to choose to walk on the right path even when it is the road less travelled. Give us words that comfort, words that edify and words that encourage that we be the light and the salt of the earth and truly make a difference.

Father, we face so many challenges on our jobs, relationships and just life in itself but we know that with you all things are possible and that with prayer we can overcome whatever life brings because you can do exceedingly, abundantly and far above anything we can think or imagine according to the power at work in us. We ask for favour that comes with open doors that our names shall be mentioned for good, that just like Esther found favour in the sight of the King, we also shall find favour before those who will be used by You to bless us.

We present every negative report, from the doctor, from the bank, from the office and wherever before your throne, just like Hezekiah did because we know that You will fight for us as we stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. You have the power to turn it around because You told us that You will turn our mourning into dancing again. We shall surely overcome all the plans of the enemy.

We rejoice because when we pray, we pray to an Omnipotent God of all strength, a Promise Keeper who keeps His Word, the most High God who is higher than all names and situations. Jehovah El-Elyon, truly at the mention of your name all knees must bow. We pray in the name that guarantees an answer, the name of Jesus. Thank you Lord in anticipation of answers to prayer.

Your baby who falls in love with you a little more each day

Yaaaaaaaaaaay!

I can finally write some words on my blog. What a week it has been but I thank the Lord that I am still here and I am still standing. The experiment didn't work the way it was supposed to but I thank God anyway as I am still here to repeat it.

How is everyone, i must thank you all for your comments on my last post. Reading it now..it makes perfect sense and I'm glad I'm free.

Happy Birthday Mummy, when you read this I want you to smile because you are more beautiful everyday. I always remember how you smile when people ask if we are sisters but we are more than that, we are best friends. I thank God everyday that you are my mother, my 'paddy', my business partner, my prayer partner, my tutor and also my student. I love the fact that you can ask me questions, that you are not the sort of parent who 'knows it all'. I love the fact that we can discuss anything and even though we 'fight' we try to be fair (ha, ha).

I love the way we have 'names' for everyone and we can laugh until tears fall from our eyes. I know it isn't always easy with the MC but i love that you share about it even though I know I'm not always a good listener. I love the way you say it as it is (call a spade a spade and not a garden fork!) whether it's what I want to hear or not. I love the way you dance to my music when I'm playing stuff in my room(well, really your music since I love music from way back!)

As I grow older, I find out how much like you I am..the only thing I don't like are the fingernails (LOL!) but I thank God for the mother that I have. Truly as the Bible says you and your children are for signs and wonders.

Have a great birthday today..i wish I could celebrate it with you but here's a million kisses from London to Lagos via Virgin Nigeria (hope say e go reach there o) mwah. Love ya!

I'm tired of this cycle
From the first glance
To the first hello
To the midnight conversations

I'm tired of this cycle
You telling me how great I am
how beautiful and intelligent
asking me questions, trying to get into my head

I'm tired of this cycle
When the real you and me begin to show
and you realise
that my no really means no

I'm tired of this cycle
as phone calls become texts
and those begin to trickle
until you disappear

I'm tired of this cycle
of being good enough
as a soul mate
but not a lifemate

I'm tired of this cycle
of ignoring the still small voice
wanting to do it my own way
and seeing what i want to see

I'm tired of this cycle
I've come round full circle...... again
So i'm home
Back where I truly belong

You told me to guard my heart
but i didn't
now it's broken
as my pearls have been cast before swine

I've given that part of my heart to You
to mend and keep
and to awaken at the right time
because I'm tired of this cycle

These words were inspired by a movie and a conversation with some friends. It seems really muddled up but poetry is not one of my top skills. Bear with me. Hope you had a great weekend, don't forget to vote in Blogville Idols, this week was tight..the contestants took it to a new level.

It's amazing how we think
Maybelline works for a broken heart
or our pain and confusion
can be covered up with MaxFactor
We learn to smile and stay 'positive'
when on the inside
it feels like we're dying

It doesn't help when we look
and see that everyone else
seems to have it all together
when we ask them they say
"oh me, I'm doing just great"
we never realise that when we leave
they bring out Iman for a touch up

We all have issues
We all have sad days
But we must learn to be open
To stand before someone
Naked and unashamed
To admit we're not perfect
And we could use some help

So I'm handing you some make-up remover
Don't worry i need it too
Because I must tell Jesus
I cannot bear these burdens alone
I must tell those who truly love me
I cannot bear this pain alone
I don't have to do this alone

The Authority of the Believer

Share
authority: a power or right delegated or given (Dictionary.com)

Yesterday when I got home from school, i overheard my sister saying something about my dad not really feeling well but my brain was like mush from the overnight so I didn't really pay much mind. This morning, I decided to call him.. I tried all his lines (it seems Nigerians cannot do without at least 3 mobile phones these days!) to no avail. Immediately, something or rather someone (now I know it was the evil one) just spoke into my mind that something terrible had happened. I must confess, fear gripped my heart immediately and I just called my mum. The devil is a liar o, at first my mum didn't pick confirming my fears even more. On the 2nd try, she picked up the phone and was asking me if I was OK because I never make international calls direct from my mobile! As I was about to speak to her, I could feel the Holy Spirit saying..oh ye of little faith, i just told her that I would call her back later and allowed God to speak to me.

Making the call was not a problem, my response to the enemy's attack to my mind was. Joyce Meyer said the mind is a battlefield as that is where the devil attacks us the most. God told me that my first response to any attack from now on must be the word of God.

I just felt a kind of holy 'anger', there on the train I just began to make confessions that 'no weapon that has been fashioned against me or my family will prosper' and 'we shall live and not die to declare the goodness of the Lord'. I just heard some words in my spirit that 'Yes, you are now walking in your authority as a believer'.

As children of God, we have been given authority which is power that has been delegated to us by God. Jesus told us that..he has given us authority to trample over snakes and scorpions and to overcome ALL the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19) so next time the enemy tries to show his hand be it in your mind or a negative report remember to stand in your authority and speak the word to the situation first.

We have great power but the enemy tries to make us focus on the issue; how big it is, how difficult the mountain is to overcome.. and this makes us lose strength. Our focus should be on God and His word. We need to read it and meditate on it until it becomes such a part of us that whenever something happens it just begins to come forth.

When Jesus came to the earth and preached, people just had to listen because He spoke as one having authority not like the teachers of the law (Mark 1:21-23), a few verses later we see Him casting out demons which had no choice but to obey as He was walking in authority-power delegated to Him by His father (John 17:2).

I don't know what problems you may be facing sometimes life may seem like a battle. Indeed it is but remember that our weapons are not ordinary. We don't fight with sticks or bullets (though sometimes I feel like doing it with my fists!!!) but we have divine power to demolish strongholds and arguments, even when the enemy attacks our minds we have the power to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ (2nd Corinthians 10:4-5). How do we make it obedient? By telling ourselves, what God has said about us in His word.

Apart from the weapons we posses, we also have an armour (see God knew there would be challenges that is why He kept reminding us). Ephesians 6:10-17 gives us a full description, it's interesting that the sword of the spirit is the word of God. A very effective weapon.

It is well with you. Even when you feel weak, know that you are strong. Some days, prayer is difficult, some days we may not remember even John 3:16 but know that God is with you. Remember that Jesus and the Holy Spirit intercede on our behalf before the Father (Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:26).

So, walk in your authority and we shall surely overcome.

Remain blessed and highly favoured.

It's 4am and i haven't slept. I haven't been able to get a nice movie. Tre, Katie and Lohit have been booted off the Apprentice (UK) leaving behind Kristina and Simon. I think Kristina is going to win. She's always delivered and I think she has what it takes to work with someone like Sir Alan.
Anyways, going to check if my sister is sleeping (she's a darl, for staying with me it would have been really difficult otherwise!) and see if I can get a better movie to watch. Next sample time:7am.

God, thank you, of myself I am and can do nothing. You are the strength of my life and my portion forever. I continue to give you praise because I am still here and still standing. Thank you for all you have done, thank you because I am an overcomer, thank you for being the hope of glory, thank you for going before me and making paths in the wilderness and streams in the desert. You are indeed a miracle worker and I love you..i wish there was more heart to love you more! Muah..a million kisses for my King. Be glorified in my life O Lord. Rocks will never take my place to give you praise.

Everyone remain blessed and highly favoured. It is well with you today. Speak life into the situations that you face, pray your desire but most importantly ask God to let His will be done in your life. He has a perfect plan for you, it might not seem that way now but wait on Him and see Him work His wonders in your life.

7even things Me-me

Share
So I got tagged by Nyemoni, i need to put down seven things about me you don't know. This will be difficult as I think I've put down a lot of information about myself on this blog. Anyways, here goes....

1. I am the second child in a family of 5 beautiful girls, so alas I do not have a brother. Growing up, people always asked me how I felt not having a brother but since I've never had one I can't really say how it feels like. Suffice it to say, I have the greatest sisters in the world. It's amazing how people can grow up in the same family and turn out so different, we have our crazy days but I wouldn't exchange them for the world. When we were younger, we were called the Chis' cos we all have chi in our name. It means God in Igbo. So babes, if you're reading muah, muah I know I get on y'alls nerves sometimes but I love you, love you, love you. I kind of love my position in the family because both of my parents are the second in their families as well.

2. I have an uncle who is 5 years older than me. This is what happens when grandma has an 'Isaac' and mummy gets married early!

3. I have a seven year old son, his name is Daniel and he lives in ALBANIA (Did I see some wide eyes at the first sentence!!). Ok, ok Daniel is my sponsored child and like i said he lives in Albania. He loves football and he's got the most beautiful eyes. Sponsoring a child is something I've always wanted to do because it's sad to think that some children don't have access to some of the things I took for granted as a child. Also, it may be a small gesture but it makes a BIG difference. I plan to adopt a child when I'm a bit older because I am of the firm belief that every little child needs a mummy.

4.The longest I have ever walked in one go is 10 miles. Last year my church was raising funds for 2 children charities and I decided to get involved. I didn't raise as much as I wanted to but it was a pleasant experience. It took me about 3 hours..i couldn't feel my feet the next day. This year by the grace of God I hope to walk longer and raise more money.

5. I've already had my 30 seconds of fame. Last year I was on the BBC morning news for approximately a minute! My uni was launching the new Science building and they needed some students to talk to some journalists about it. I was like ok, whatever but no one told me it was going to be live on the 7:30 and 8:30 news! I was a bit nervous but people said I was really calm compared to the lecturers. I didn't really realise that a lot of people watch the news in the morning before going to work cos I don't..I just check the weather so for the next 2 weeks I couldn't hear the end of it. Anyways, that's over and done with now.

6. I have this thing about bags. The bigger the better, the bigger the more things I find to fill it. My sister has given up on getting me a bag that is just the right size! As at now, I use 2, one small one for my wallet, travel card e.t.c and another for my books, lunch, papers and STUFF. As I travel on the train, I see a million women like me! It seems to be a woman thing because men know how to travel light! Don't even get me started about how I pack when I'm travelling..enough said!

7. yay i'm at the end. My favourite colour is brown. Everyday I wear something brown..whenever I shop at least 1 item must be brown. I doesn't matter the shade there must be brown in it! Today, a brown top, 2 brown bags and light brown trainers..oh well I guess it's a phase!

Update: I have finished the 2nd batch of experiments, next batch 11pm (in 2 hours time)..still awake. I will be reading other blogs.

Remain blessed and highly favoured.

Hello people

Thanks for your prayers. I've dragged my beautiful sista to come and spend the night with me..she's got some reading to do for her exams so hopefully it's a symbiotic association! I just realised that my computer at work for some wierd reason doesn't play DVDs so I think it will be naija films for me tonight and I also need to finish my count of Monte Cristo (i've been reading it off and on for about six months now)..in fairness to me it's quite long (about 650 pages) and i have only been able to read it at the weekends. Hopefully, should be done tonight.

That's all for now folks, meanwhile I'm really excited about Blogville idol, more info on Pink-satin's blog. Hope, everyone will be involved. I'll let you know how everything is going.

Mini-Update

Share
Hello people,

It's been silent over here for a while, just thought to put down a few words. So I'm back at work (grrr!!), don't mind me, I'm loving it! I can't believe it's been almost a year since I started, sometimes I start to panic because there is still so much work to be done but I stop when I realise that I'm not in this alone. God is with me and He has told me I can do all things through Him cos He gives me the strength!

Anyways I have an overnight here tomorrow, my very first. I'm so excited! My experiment requires sampling every 4 hours over a period of 2 days so I gotta be here, anyways to stay awake i will just be updating as I go along. Please people I need your prayers so that I can stay AWAKE!!

I have some major reports to write but haven't really been in my 'zone' for a while but I have to get it done ASAP, zone or not.

Happy new month, I love June for a number of reasons,

it's a wake up call for me because it's the middle of the year and I've been slacking on some goals, it's mummy's birthday and a ton of other people, almost everyone is about to have a baby(i don't really know why, must be the winter!!!) or get married (....for they say when you marry in june, you're a bride all your life!) and the sun shines a lot. The bit in italics is from a song in one of my favourite movies of all time..see if you can guess!

My prayer for you is that you receive strength in the areas where you need it most. That you are aware of His Presence with you every minute of every day. That you have the wisdom to make the right decisions and He grants you unlimited favour. That you remember that He loves you even when you make mistakes because it is an unfailing love.

In our church, it's been declared the month of VICTORY and I pray that you experience that as well in the challenges you face.
Receive courage from the most High, receive healing where it hurts. It is well with you in Jesus name.

Remain blessed and highly favoured

Remember to smile!

Friendship

Share
Have you noticed
that we are growing further apart
we used to be able to talk
about everything
about nothing
but now our conversations have become
stilted, almost rehearsed

I used to think we would be best mates forever
our connection seemed to be just too strong
but somewhere on this journey it seems
you or maybe me
headed off in a different direction
whilst the other never noticed
till now

we can never be enemies
i love you too much for that
but we are no longer in the same place
and i'm not just talking geography
i think this relationship is in a different season
i can't say goodbye
but God bless
i'll pray for you and remember you
for bringing out some of the best stuff in me

Hugs and kisses
