My mind or His mind?
Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had IN MIND to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joesph, son of David,do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit." Matthew 1:19-20
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ JesusPhilippians's 2:5
I need to thank the blogger Truth because this post was inspired by a conversation I had with her. I'm a thinker, so there's always something on my mind, Joyce Meyer says the mind is a battlefield, it's where our thoughts spring from and we win or lose there first before we even pick up any weapons.
When I'm tempted to ask Why Me?, Lord please remind me about Joseph, Matthew called him a righteous man, that one faces the issues of life is not as a result of sin but because we have been chosen! God knew that it was only a man like Joseph, a righteous man who could hear from Him that He could entrust with the position of being Himself (a Father) on earth to His only begotten. Joseph was engaged to be married which in Bible times was as good as being married as breaking an engagement was tantamount to divorce!! We have a lot to learn! So not only did word come to him that his boo was pregnant (and not by him?), she was talking all manner of crazy about some Holy Ghost conception? Why me Lord?
Don't we still ask the same question today? Why me Lord? I have served in your house faithfully, I have lived a righteous life and here I am waiting for the manifestation of your word in my life. Why me Lord? Why the burden of preaching the gospel to a man, woman, family member, boss who isn't even interested? Why me Lord? Why this responsibility? Why can't I have a baby? Why can't I get married? Why can't I get unmarried? Why am I sick? Why is my baby sick? Why can't I get a job? Honey, God alone has the answers to the Why's of life but we see that we grow in trust as we place them all into His capable care!
Joseph resolved in his mind what he would do, recently I made a decision about one of my close relationships, I made up my mind what I was going to do and then the Lord reminded me of this Scripture,
He said "Both of us know what is in your mind about this issue but do you know what is on my mind? and if they are different which do you follow? Don't give up on Mary because you don't understand what is going on with her for your destiny is tied to her"
Can I be real? I dropped my Bible when I heard that statement, no, not on the floor, just to my side because I wanted to do what I wanted to do but as always God wins. When unsure about any decision, ask God to confirm His word by two or three independent witnesses! I say this same thing to you, don't put Mary away because you don't understand why things are working the way that are, Mary could be a job, your ministry, your spouse, your fiance/fiancee, an issue, a person but hear God, because what Mary is carrying is from the Holy Ghost even though it doesn't look that way!
People may laugh at your decision, even when Jesus was an adult, He was mocked about not knowing His father but that is irrelevant. 2010 is about recognising His voice, heeding His voice, obeying His voice above all else. So let them laugh, let them talk, whatever action you take ensure it is His mind. I love God because He speaks His mind. So when His mind and my mind clash, I'm learning to realign myself and say Yes Lord, all the way. I pray you do the same!
Remain blessed and highly favoured. 2010 remains the year of 'The Lord has done this' and the rise of the eagles!

Deep words...our walk with God has so much to do with us trusting Him enough to say not I but you...not my will but your will...no matter how hard that may seem
God is God ,no matter what we go through, His will, will always superceed ours. Our whys most time are very genuine but because we are still in the flesh, it could be very painful. He will open our eyes and understanding anytime we go to Him to ask why and He will always answer us in His ways.
May His will be done has always been my prayer for life. Because I know His thoughts towards me are ever good no matter how much or how long it takes.
Thanks Zoe and Amen.
I pray that I know the mind of God and the ability to obey Him...no matter what.
Very thought-provoking post, Believer.
When you said Mary could be anything, that made me see that scripture in a different limelight. Thank you for this post. Really.
