I love you

I was going through an old journal and found this poem I read in a book and found so beautiful that I decided to write down in my journal on the 30th of December 2000 ( I can't believe it, over 6 years ago!!). Reading my journal brings back so many memories..but FOCUS!!! Yeah, back to what I was saying. I thought I should share the poem with everyone.

I LOVE YOU

I love you
Not only for what you are
But for what I am
When I am with you
I love you
Not only for what
You have made of yourself
But for what
You are making me

I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no on else had looked
Quite far enough to find

I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple
Out of the works
Of my everyday
Not a reproach
But a song

What do you think about it? I think the beauty of love, that we receive from God and the people He has placed in our lives is that they love us not only for our strengths BUT IN SPITE OF our weaknesses.
